We thought it would be kind of fun to share some of the things
happening to our farm.  Hope you enjoy this.

We attended the Peruvian Classic Auction this
weekend over at Stachowski Alpacas in Mantua Ohio.
This is our first time to the auction and we had a
wonderful time.  The picture at the left is
Robin, whom
we purchased at the auction.  She came from Dream
Spinner Farm.  Thanks Unni and Brian, we love her !!

We had our 5th cria today and our last for the season.
Here are some pictures of her.  We are leaning
towards the name
Cleopatra and calling her "Pat".
She is a cute little girl with a very dark brown fleece.
She is the daughter of Fire and Ice from Lazy G
Ranch.   She weighed 17 lbs at birth.

We attended the Magical Farms Auction for 2006.
The show was a lot of fun and we met some new
friends.  Jeff and Marie Bradford have Harmony Ridge
Farms in Oak Hill Ohio.  Super nice people, and if you
are down that way, I would definitely suggest you stop
in and say HI to them....

We had our Crossroads Pen Sale and Herdsire  Row
this weekend at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds.
The day was rainy, and the crowd was pretty small
compared to the amount of work w all put into the
show.  I think next year we should just stick to a single
pen sale in the spring and not have one in the fall.

We visited the MIAF 2006 show in Birch Run Michigan
this weekend.  It was the first time at this particular
show, and we had a terrific time.  Such a well run show
and a lot of new farms to meet.  We took Sahara and
Mariah to the show and they each got a third place
ribbon.  We were so excited.  Mariah was in a class of
8 and Sahara was in a class of 6.  Both girls did
wonderfully, and Heather was outstanding in the ring
(as usual).  Here are some pics from
MIAF.

We took Beauty to the vet's office today for a spec
check.  She came out with flying colors and I
immediately took her over to Magical Farms to breed
to Black Forest.  We had such a good outcome from
the last breeding that we had to try it again.  Only 11
months to see how this turns out !!!!
Sept 2, 2006
As if the fair results were not enough, we had a new
cria born on the farm.  Beauty was due August 15th,
and delivered this wonderful black female to our farm
today.

She is 100% Peruvian, 1/2 accoyo and black as tar.
We are very excited and can't wait to get her into the
show ring.  She came in at 20.2 lbs birth weight and is
doing great.

We had some special visitors on the farm today.  My
Aunt Rosie stopped over to see the animals.  I think
she liked them, but check out the pics for yourself.
Charlie is the photographer for this historic event, and
I think he captured the shots very well.
Thanks Charlie.

Fulton County Fair.....what an awesome time.  First of
all, my mom went with me to the show.  She has never
shown an alpaca in the ring before, but she gave it a
try.  Her and Mariah won a blue ribbon and also
Reserve Champion Female for the show.  How cool is
that !!!!  Thanks MOM....

Sahara won a blue ribbon in her class and also won
the Grand Champion Female for the show.   Not bad
for our farm.

We sold Darius today.  He went to a very nice farm in
Baldwin Michigan called Dodge City Alpaca Ranch.
Steve and Charlotte are great people and we enjoyed
meeting them.  Stop by and see them as well as
Darius if you get into that part of Michigan.

Excyter with Marlita ourselves in the next month or so.

At around 3:00 today, this beautiful little guy was born.
We don't know the time because he was born out in
the field while we were all away.  He has stolen our
heart with his beautiful color and "big doe eyes".
Lassiter is his name Here are some more
pics of the
cria if you want to check them out.

Shearing Day on the farm today.  We partnered up
again this year with Sunny Meade Alpacas to do our
shearing.  This year we had a good friend of ours do
the shearing.  Charlie Reinhardt lives in Marysville
Ohio, and he does a wonderful job with the animals.
He has the highest regard for the animals safety and
his concern shows in the quality work he does.  We
spent Saturday at our farm, and Sunday at Sunny
Meade.  Here are some pictures of
shearing.   If you
would like to contact Charlie to help with your
shearing, let us know and we can put you in touch with
him.

Gunther has arrived !!!  At 11:15 am today, Selene
gave birth to a 20.8 lb baby boy.  We named him
Gunther.  He is going to be either a bay black or a
dark brown.  It is kind of hard to tell when they are so
small.  He is all legs, but Selene is a great Mom and
we know he will grow up quickly.  Check out some pics
of Gunther on the
MALES page or click here -->
Gunther. That is Gunther directly to the left.

Worked out in the pasture today.  The spring is great
and it is fun to be out there working with the animals.
Selene is fine and showing no signs of labor.  She has
stopped rolling on th ground as well and is eating and
grazing properly.
  April 18,
2006
Selene acted kind of funny today, seemed like she
was in labor, but then nothing happened.  She is not
due until AMay 1st, so we are glad she did not deliver
yet.  We are going to keep a close eye on her the next
few days to be sure she is ok.Worked out in the
pasture today.  The spring is great and it is fun to be
out there working with the animals.  Selene is fine and
showing no signs of labor.  She has stopped rolling on
the ground as well and is eating and grazing properly.

A beautiful day out today, although a little windy and
cool.  Working on the pastures and the gates as we
prepare for the coming of the new cria in a few weeks.
Selene - Marlita - Larisa are all due in the next few
weeks and Heather can't wait to get her hands on
some more babies .....
  Apr 1, 2006
We sold Marlita's fleece to Robin Ryan (THANKS
ROBIN !!) whom we met at the Triple Crown.  She is
also interested in other rovings that we have,
especially Sparticus rovings.  His color is really unique
and people like the varigation in his rovings.
  Mar 25, 2006
We purchased 15 panels and 2 new gates from Bill
Coburn up in Port Clinton.  These are the heavy duty
green panels and not the light show panels.  These
new panels will allow us to rearrange things in the
pastures more easily than having temporary fencing
put up.

WOW !!!  The Western Triple Crown Alpaca Show was
this weekend and we had a great time.  The people
are super and the animals there were fantastic.  We
really had a great time.  Heather did an awesome job
showing the animals and Bob found something to do
by helping as a Ring Steward both days.  Our animals
did very well also.  Excyter won two first place ribbons
and two Championships also.  Darius won three
ribbons and Sahara won two ribbons.   Marlita won a
spinning ribbon for her fleece even though she did not
go to the show.  Here are some pictures from the
Western Triple Crown Show

The Pen Sale was yesterday and it was a great time.
Lots of interested people came to the show.  We had
about 30 alpacas from the 12 farms.  Seminars were
great and attended by the 100 or so people who
stopped in.  All in all, I think everyone had a great day.

Feb 26, 2006

This weekend (March 4th) is a pen sale at Sandusky
County Fairgrounds in Fremont.  We are taking
Sahara and Mariah for girls, and both herdsires -
Excyter and Darius.  We have a person interested in a
breeding with Darius and are anxious to meet her at
the show.
Feb 25, 2006

It is finally nice enough to get outside a little.  Spent
the morning rearranging the panels to provide optimal
space for all.  The babies will be here soon (April) and
we need to get Mariah weaned from Farrah.
  Feb 2, 2006
The first month of 2006 is over, 11 to go.  All the
animals are ready to get out in the fields, but we have
a lot of water from the changing temperatures this
winter.  Can't wait till spring comes.  Maybe we can do
something for drainage this summer.
  Jan 1, 2006
WOW !!!  The New Year is already here.  We have a
lot of water in the pasture but the animals are all up in
the barns.  2005 was wonderful, and we look forward
to a great new year in Bowling Green.  Hope to see
many on you at the shows and upcoming events in the
New Year.
