We attended the Magical Farms Auction for 2006. The show was a lot of fun and we met some new friends. Jeff and Marie Bradford have Harmony Ridge Farms in Oak Hill Ohio. Super nice people, and if you are down that way, I would definitely suggest you stop in and say HI to them.... |

We had our Crossroads Pen Sale and Herdsire Row this weekend at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds. The day was rainy, and the crowd was pretty small compared to the amount of work w all put into the show. I think next year we should just stick to a single pen sale in the spring and not have one in the fall. |

We visited the MIAF 2006 show in Birch Run Michigan this weekend. It was the first time at this particular show, and we had a terrific time. Such a well run show and a lot of new farms to meet. We took Sahara and Mariah to the show and they each got a third place ribbon. We were so excited. Mariah was in a class of 8 and Sahara was in a class of 6. Both girls did wonderfully, and Heather was outstanding in the ring (as usual). Here are some pics from MIAF. |

She is 100% Peruvian, 1/2 accoyo and black as tar. We are very excited and can't wait to get her into the show ring. She came in at 20.2 lbs birth weight and is doing great. Shearing Day on the farm today. We partnered up again this year with Sunny Meade Alpacas to do our shearing. This year we had a good friend of ours do the shearing. Charlie Reinhardt lives in Marysville Ohio, and he does a wonderful job with the animals. He has the highest regard for the animals safety and his concern shows in the quality work he does. We spent Saturday at our farm, and Sunday at Sunny Meade. Here are some pictures of shearing. If you would like to contact Charlie to help with your shearing, let us know and we can put you in touch with him. |

Gunther has arrived !!! At 11:15 am today, Selene gave birth to a 20.8 lb baby boy. We named him Gunther. He is going to be either a bay black or a dark brown. It is kind of hard to tell when they are so small. He is all legs, but Selene is a great Mom and we know he will grow up quickly. Check out some pics of Gunther on the MALES page or click here --> Gunther. That is Gunther directly to the left. |

Selene acted kind of funny today, seemed like she was in labor, but then nothing happened. She is not due until AMay 1st, so we are glad she did not deliver yet. We are going to keep a close eye on her the next few days to be sure she is ok.Worked out in the pasture today. The spring is great and it is fun to be out there working with the animals. A beautiful day out today, although a little windy and cool. Working on the pastures and the gates as we prepare for the coming of the new cria in a few weeks. Selene - Marlita - Larisa are all due in the next few weeks and Heather can't wait to get her hands on some more babies ..... |

We sold Marlita's fleece to Robin Ryan (THANKS ROBIN !!) whom we met at the Triple Crown. She is also interested in other rovings that we have, especially Sparticus rovings. His color is really unique and people like the varigation in his rovings. |

We purchased 15 panels and 2 new gates from Bill Coburn up in Port Clinton. These are the heavy duty green panels and not the light show panels. These new panels will allow us to rearrange things in the pastures more easily than having temporary fencing put up. |

The Pen Sale was yesterday and it was a great time. Lots of interested people came to the show. We had about 30 alpacas from the 12 farms. Seminars were great and attended by the 100 or so people who stopped in. All in all, I think everyone had a great day. Pen Sale Photos |

The first month of 2006 is over, 11 to go. All the animals are ready to get out in the fields, but we have a lot of water from the changing temperatures this winter. Can't wait till spring comes. Maybe we can do something for drainage this summer. |
