Farrah delivered her Fourth female cria to the farm today. The little girl is called Jaida and we are very happy to have her.
Jaida is dark fawn / or brown......not sure yet.
She is spunky and running around the paddock every day. Diesel and Samson are super happy to have her running around with them.
Even Laila is getting into the mix. She is acting like a baby sitter for the three cria. Such fun to watch.
Here are some Jaida pictures to look at.

The Michigan International Alpaca Festival is this weekend and we are heading there. We took Lassiter, Lincoln, Elena and Esperanza.
The weekend was good and every animal won a ribbon. Not sure we can say that about other shows we have been to.
So.........I guess it was a great show !!!!
Here are the winning alpaca pictures.

Our third cria was born today. This little guy is "Diesel" and we are very excited about this boy. Yes, we actually wanted a boy from this pairing.
Beauty gave us a Full Peruvian, 1/2 Accoyo True Black Male. We are excited and plan to keep this guy for our own herdsire row. Pictures here.

Our newest little addition came today. SAMSON came in at 18.5 lbs and is light rose grey in color.
He has been growing 1/2 pound each day and is getting to know every one in the herd. Well, actually the others are getting to know Samson. He really does not have much choice.

We are adding on to the back of the barn. This weekend my mom and dad were down and we started some projects. Adding on to the barn and painting the old portion of the barn.
Thanks to both of them for always being so willing to help out with any project on the farm.
I will add some pictures later when the projects are complete. We went to Home Depot looking for steel roofing, but they don;t carry it anymore in the store. You have to special order it. Hope it was the right thing I ordered. More to come later.

Today was the Fulton County Fair and we took 4 animals to the show. We had 5 ribbons and one dis-qualified entry.
Yea, I said dis-qualify. My mom was wearing open toed shoes and she was showing the animals. During the second animal, the judge called her aside and told her she was dis-qualified for the open toed shoes. She was disappointed, but not as much as I was. I had to step into the ring. A place I never go.
Well, I did the best I could and I am glad we have nice animals because we did take some ribbons.
Elena got a first place and a reserve champion. Esperanza got a first place. Lincoln got a second place Lassiter got a third place. (He was very nervous)

It is done ...... the barn extension is complete.
This Memorial Day weekend we spent most of it out painting and priming on the barn.
The results look great and the animals just love the extra space and the shade.
Take a look here to see the history of the barn in photo format. More pics here.

Well, another shearing day on the farm. We had 16 to do this year but we got a lot of help. Charlie Reinhardt did the shearing for us and is he ever good with the animals.
My parents also came down to lend a hand as well. Both of our children were here to help which was a huge help. My son-in-law Troy even gave up his birthday (24th) to be with us and help out.
Thanks Troy. More pictures here.

Lincoln also went to the 2008 Buckeye Alpaca Show in Columbus. He took a fifth place in a very competitive class of 14 white juvenile males.
That may not sound like much, but it is a big deal to us. The white classes are always super competitive because the fiber has been improved for so many years. We are very proud of Lincoln and his shiny white fiber. Here he is with his ribbon in our new barn.

Well the barn keeps moving along even if the weather does not want to cooperate with the students.
We have shingles on the roof and the walk through door is in place.
Our mechanical squirrel - "Nutz" can't keep his eyes off of the barn. Check out why here.

Well, the weather has been pretty crappy here in Bowling Green and we have had tons of rain instead of snow. The fields are very wet and the animals are not happy that they have to stay up near the barn.
